Our first family dinner at Mercedes' casa in Chiclana was a wonderful treat! While the ladies worked to prepare a fresh dinner late in the evening, Steve and I enjoyed watching and listening to them in the kitchen - such a treat! All of them speak a little English and we speak a little Spanish - but laughter is the same in all languages! I'll let the pictures do the talking - we ate very well! Around 1:00am we climbed the stairs and fell into bed exhausted from a wonderful day of sightseeing and enjoying new friendships! In the words of Rick Steves, we were seeing Spain "through the back door" and loving every minute!

As I write this, it is early Wednesday morning and the roosters and chickens are raising a fuss - somebody gathering fresh eggs. There are cats sitting in the window - hoping for some of the leftover heads from last night's prawns. Fresh oranges and a grapefruit are sitting on the lovely wooden table in the kitchen where soon smells of eggs and bacon will begin to permeate the air. Today we will stay in Chiclana and shop before heading on our way tomorrow.

I want to wish a very happy 18th birthday to my dear son Alex - love him very much!
