Railway Viaduct

Wifi access is proving a bit poor. There don't appear to be many Internet cafes about & so far we have had to use McDonalds & tourist offices but connections have not been great & a lot of the tourist offices are closed for the winter.

Today we traveled down into the Midi-Pyrenees mountains. All the passes are clear of snow although we did see some snow topped peaks in the distance. Our maximum elevation was about 1100mtrs but the roads were good so no problems.

We stopped in Clermond-Ferrand for diesel & to get wifi at McDs but couldn't get online so just had a cheeseburger & coffee. Ethel, the SatNav directed us out of the car park via. one-way exit, which didn't go down well with the incoming cars.

At least the weather has improved and we had a lovely sunny afternoon for driving through the mountains with some great views and lovely scenery. The best was when we left the motorway & were looking for an Aire for the night. There was one area in a gorge under a viaduct that was quite spectacular.

We did find a suitable Aire in the end but checked out two others on the way but both had one or other of the facilities closed or not available. We eventually stopped at the Aire in Ste. Eulalie D'Olt. It was 5.30pm & getting dark but luckily this one looks really good. It cost us a whole €7 for 24hrs but with free electricity & water & waste disposal. The toilets were closed but although we prefer to have a toilet & electricity on a site we can survive just as well without them. We have gas for cooking, heating & the fridge & our lights & the TV all run off the leisure battery. We even both had a shower tonight in the motorhome.
