Today at Silver Sneakers class there were only six participants. Our instructor, Patricia, had written a cute routine after the likes of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” - On the 12 Days of … my true love gave to me: 1 Deep Breaths, 2 Knee Lifts, 3 Jump Ropes (Heels up), 4 Hamstring Curls, 5 Jump Ropes (Toes up), 6 Ladies Dancing, 7 Horses Rocking, 8 Jacks Jumping, 9 Pendulums Swinging, 10 Toes Tapping, 11 Drummers Squatting, 12 Lords Lunging.
My church had two Christmas Eve services, one at 4:00 and one at 6:00. I attended the 4:00 o’clock service. There was a full house! There was special music, the pastor’s time with the children and then his own special homily. The one with the children was very clever. The Christmas story was written by the children’s program director and illustrated by the director’s daughter. It was told from the point of view of a duck, who had a very outgoing personality. He went out to find his pal, an owl. Together they went to find the Christ child and found a camel who could take them there. The duck rode inside the camel’s pack, while the owl sat on top. They arrived in time to see the Wise Men bringing their gifts. The duck was very surprised to see that the child didn’t live in a mansion but, rather, a humble little place. Maybe I’m just a kid at heart, but I enjoyed the story.
