Joe and Ingrid's Alaska Trip travel blog

OK, this is my second attempt at completing this entry...dunno what I did wrong but something...anyway, we're at at KOA in the BADLANDS. The cottonwood trees are raining pollen down on us and we've got the AC running (90 outside).

That campground in Wisconsin was the pits and we hauled out of there by 7:30 on Saturday...ate along the way at a Perkins Pancake House. Stayed at a KOA in Jackson, MN-wonderful, clean and pretty. Visited the Corn Palace in Mitchell,SD. It's AMAZING!!! Panels or pictures made out of corn and grain products on the outside. New theme every year...this year's Saluting Youth Activities was sports, etc. New panels will be done in August.

Arrived at the BADLANDS and can see why they're so named. Very unwelcoming landforms. Will soon get in the truck and take our first air conditioned tour. Maybe get to Wall Drugs but won't be leaving Colden in a hot truck for long. We were pretty spent after setting up camp in the 88 degree heat last night and headed to the visitor's center restaurant for a bison burger and cold drink. By the time we got back the trailer AC had worked it's magic and we had a peaceful night under the cottonwood trees. Colden is now taking his morning nap on the couch, we've got our Internet connection established, had breakfast and the day is unfolding. Will get water and head in to the park...no hiking today just the driving tour. Will send pics when we have some. Hope all is well with you all....

Love,

Ingrid, Joe & Colden
