|Monday, 17 May: This morning we drove from Williams to just south of Tusayan, AZ. The trip took a bit longer than an hour which included "photo ops" on Route 66.
We are about four miles south of the Grand Canyon's south entrance in the Kaibab National Forest Ten-X campground. A beautifully rustic setting, with no water or electricity, but Carpe Diem is set up for "boondocking" with a nice new bank of deep cycle batteries and a generator with which to charge them.
We're planning to spend a few days here depending on the weather. Tomorrow's low temperatures are forecast to be in the 20s, we'll see... And to think we put the heavy winter comforter away (but it'll come out of storage in a jiff if it does get that cold!)
Tuesday, 18 May: Beautiful, quiet, and restful evening. Once the sun went down the campground was pitch dark and quiet. Only the sound of light rain on the roof could be heard (we won't go into snoring here...) Today is cool and cloudy, highes forecast only in the 50°s, and tonite's low in the (brrrr) 20°s. We're planning to visit the Canyon this afternoon and, weather permitting, try to "catch" sunset.
