Today is my Mom's birthday. Happy Birthday Mom!

Today's hike is up, up, up. We start out by going up about 4000 steps. We started hiking about 8:30 a.m., had tea break at Ulleri at 10:00 a.m., lunch at Nayathanti (macaroni & cheese) at 12:30 p.m. The oak & rhododendron forest is beautiful. This trail reminds me of the Inca trail with all the steps, but this is harder. But to give due credit to the Inca trail, I hiked on it for only 4 days. These trails go all over connecting villages, and have guesthouses and lodges everywhere.

We arrived at the "See You" Guest House about 3 p.m. in Gorepani (2873 m). Each night the group gathers at 5 p.m. for the meeting to describe what we are doing the next day, and to give our dinner orders. Then we hang out awhile after dinner. I decided to learn carroom board with the porters - big mistake. I'm really bad at it, and they are really good. It was hilarious though, and I had a good partner.
