Simi Valley Marchers

Along the Greenbelt

Lush Green Park Lawn

Attack #5-Scenic Simi Valley
20 May - We enjoyed a peaceful, quiet, and comfortable night at Camping World. After the last 3 attacks in the valley in the intense heat, the cool air was most appreciated. A short easy convoy took us to the starting point at a pleasant shopping center with a large battlefield assembly area, which allowed for easy AV positioning and mustering of the troops. This march took us through many neighborhoods with beautiful gardens and lush green yards, parks, and golf courses by-way-of well groomed sidewalks and greenbelts.

Following the successful attack of Simi Valley, I enjoyed some badly needed R&R at the assembly area before moving on. Larry and his team, as usual, took off ahead of me to scout the trail. We met up about 30 miles down the road at the Port Hueneme Walmart to regroup before heading to the Port Hueneme Naval Construction Battalion Base for an overnighter. We had a heck of a time getting into the base but eventually convinced the squid guards that we were legitimate SAAD solders. Shortly after getting settled at the encampment, Larry and his crew left the base for grub as I relaxed and got totally immersed in a good movie. Just as the story intensified, I received a SOS from Larry. They were being detained at the gate as suspected enemy infiltrators and needed my assistance. So much for my movie, as I hitched a ride to the gate from fellow combatant Betty Chin and rescued my team from being arrested and thrown into the brig.

Mission status for day 5 of 16: Completed 5th of 21 scheduled attacks for a total of 48.5 miles on the ground and 489 convoy miles.
