Our trip from Foley, AL to Livingston, LA was 220 miles with almost all of it on interstate 10 and 12. Interstate 10 dips down to New Orleans while I-12 keeps going straight west and we will join up again with I-10 in Baton Rouge tomorrow. It was a good thing I checked the route Sheila, our GPS, was taking us as she wanted to go all the way down to the Gulf Shores, head west a few miles, then north again on AL 59/US 90 to get back on I-10. She had no idea that the Foley Expressway existed north of Foley or connected with the Baldwin Beach Expressway to get to I-10 40 miles shorter than her route. We took the expressways even though Sheila thought we were in the middle of a field a good bit of the time. Long story short - always check your GPS route with a real map, or Google Maps, before just accepting it. One nice thing about GPSs is that they will adjust and keep rerouting you until you get it to go where you want. This time, we were on I-10 before she finally was happy but then she correctly routed us to our campground!
We are staying at the Lakeside RV Park
about a mile south of I-12. It is a very nice park, notice I didn't say resort, with what appears to be very good management. It is one of the cleanest parks we have been in and we are in a very long, concrete, full hookup pull-through with the 50 amp connection being all we will use for the one night. We have good Verizon and a clear shot to the satellite. We didn't even unhook Libby as we will do nothing while here and leave tomorrow morning for Baytown, TX for another one-night stay.
