Bus 8am, sugar cane, cattle, & tourism (diff kind of cattle, just more needy...a problem here w/ incr in cruise ship traffic '98=14,000...2005=600,000 w/ 236,000 by all other means!). On bus saw dozens of trucks loaded w/ sugar cane waiting for processing all lined up along road to mill. Belize buses are really just converted school buses...but cheap, but cheap!

Arr in Belize City, walked across bridge from bus stop and in 1/2 hour we were on the boat taxi/ferry to Caye Caulker where we eventually ended up at Tropical Paradise Hotel paying $50 US for a room. Can't get TV w/o AC and we really wanted to see more Olympics so bit the bullet and paid top dollar so far this trip!

Signed up for snorkeling tomor. This island is very similar to Bahamian islands...narrow streets, wood houses for most part, and usually up on stilts. Here very laid back vs San Pedro where we went next day (lots more tourism there as well).
