story of Dutch and Harbor

I couldn't miss visiting this town, as I am part Dutch! I didn't find the park and garden that has a wooden shoe store until after it had closed up for the day. Guess I can't get some wooden shoes for my sore feet that are prone to blisters! Ha!

I liked the bike/walking path here that went from the Windmill Island Gardens through small lakes and marshes to the downtown area. So, while each town has things in common, so do they have unique features worth visiting.

Before the end of the day, I made my way to Lake Michigan to the Holland State Park, from which the best view of the Holland Lighthouse ("Big Red") can be seen. I stayed to watch motor and sail boats go in and out of the channel which is the outlet of Pigeon River (not Holland!!). I didn't think the sunset would be colorful, so I left, even though I saw lots of people with tripods finding a good spot to watch it.
