Step One: Our friend Charlies gave us a ride from the campground the airport. Much appreciated. No traffic delays today. It was a bit jarring to see the lobby where a TSA agent leapt to his death from a balcony a few weeks ago. If the TSA agents were thinking about that or their delayed wages after the government shut-down, they did not let on. In the pre-Check line things moved fast and we rejoiced in keeping our shoes on and computer bags shut. Usually one of us gets nailed for our technology, but we must have looked trustworthy today. This trip included economy flights. We upgraded to Premium Economy, a category we have not experienced before. Business Class was much too $$$. It does not entitle us to the First Class lounge, but our Sapphire credit card does. Even in the lah-di-dah lounge it feels like we are the only ones not wearing ears. Mickey Mouse rules here.
Step Two: When we sat on the ground in Orlando the plane's A/C did not work. Temperature outside 87º; temperature inside unbearable. There seemed to be little difference between Premium Economy and regular Economy. We did get a drink and a snack and some folks never did get served before the plane began descent. The lah-di-dah lounge in Atlanta is small and crowded and serving the same food they did in Orlando, minus the Mickey Mouse ears. It's a long hike from our gate, but a bit of walking will do us good before we settle in for the ten hour flight. There will also be a two hour time change. That's why not much is our our agenda for tomorrow, I guess. We are streaming a bit of the Academy Awards while we wait for the flight to Beunos Aries. And we’re not alone in doing so. Yeah, technology.
