Amazing Redwoods

Rocks offshore

Woke up to drizzly rain. Packed up bikes and headed back to Gold Beach and Hwy 101. Many boats in bay area. Stopped at Crescent City visitor center for maps and guidebooks for California. On to Redwood National Park. Amazing trees right next to winding road. Stopped at Prarie State Park. No campsites available but we used Senior Pass to get to picnic and shower (operated with quarters!)Continued on 101 along beaches. Huge rocks near shore, steep drop off from road to beaches. On to KOA campground at Benbow. KOA is on site of historic resort and along river. The gold course and inn are still open and operating but the lake has been drained. Blackberries all along river edge and fine gardens at inn. Talked with year round camper who is local minister but his wife keeps up the grounds for the KOA and Benbow Inn.
