Nikko colours

After a chat last night with mein host Ken Samumoto - who fortunately speaks fluent English - I decided I could avoid the bus stress and see the autumn colours by walking further up into the mountains from Nikko itself, which is basically what I did for several hours today. Photographically it was difficult, often overcast, but more often a challenge because there were too many trees in the way! It was a great hike though, not too steep anywhere, great trees, great views, and not one other person all day long. This confirmed my long-held view that with a bit of initiative its nearly always possible to avoid the crowds.
