We had planned to leave the DFW area on Dec. 29th, but the Airstream was having some maintenance work done in North Dallas and it wasn't going to be ready until about 3:30 p.m. on the 29th, so we decided to just park it in front of Amanda's house overnight and leave the next morning. Good thing, too. Tornadoes were dancing about Texas that afternoon. They had the sirens going off and our friends who were still at Treetops evacuated to the office.

We pulled away from Amanda's at about 11 a.m. and hit the road south since we heard that El Paso was going to get snow and we didn't want any. We stopped at Copperas Creek Corps of Engineers park in between Stephenville and Brownwood.

It was a great park. Only cost $11 for full hook ups, so we decided to stay three nights to get past the New Years holiday.

It was sunny and cold while we were there, but we did get some nice walks in.

Gorgeous weather
The sky was really blue and clear.

Lots of birds

The bad thing is that I started relapsing with the cold that I have had since the first of December. It had never really gone away and now suddenly it was a lot worse. Jeff got a lot of maintenance chores done that he had been putting off for a while, and I did some housecleaning. It doesn't take long to clean an Airstream, but it does occasionally need to be done.

On New Year's Eve, we were definitely old farts and celebrated Eastern time, then went to bed. We watched the Tournament of Roses parade and ate black-eyed peas and cornbread. 2007 looks really good to us!
