We awoke early but I remembered that we had no internet service and I was unable to write in the journal, so we rolled over and went back to sleep for awhile. We did get up at 5:30 AM though, and turned on the TV to get a look at the weather.
Our destination for today was Springfield, MO, but they were getting freezing rain and sleet, which reached from the Wichita, KS area to Springfield, MO and stretched south along our route of travel. No problem! We simply paid for another day and stayed put.
I must admit that it is nice to have a down day, and to simply rest up. Marilyn feels better than she did yesterday, and prepared bacon, eggs, coffee and toast for breakfast this morning. We skipped lunch and have spent most of our day watching the Travel Channel on TV and working puzzles.
The forecast weather is for rain later today here, but temperatures are supposed to be in the mid 60 degree range.
Tomorrow, we plan to move to Springfield, MO and then go on to Hannibal on the next day. We are hoping that Hwy 69 is a little smoother than it was last year, when we likened it to a washboard. I’ll let you know.
Marilyn took a few pictures of the KOA campground here in Colbert. It is quite nice but has no wi-fi, which is a big negative with me.
I realize that this is a short entry but there really is nothing to write about. Today we have Dan & Pat on our minds. Dan is having back surgery today, in Houston. We are anxious to hear from them and to learn that all is ok.
We have spoken to friends in Monroe City and Hannibal, MO and to Ralph who is in Wichita. Most of what we heard in these conversations was “Stay there, it is really cold back here!”
Well dear readers, it is time to do something else. I just can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store…..
