Ready to leave

Driving through Ft Worth

We're not at Llano Grande anymore

Feb 10, 2008 Buda, TX to Colbert, OK

We were awake early in Buda, and drank our morning coffee together, discussing how far we were going to travel on our second day out from the valley.

We had a level site and didn’t have to disconnect the truck on the evening before, so it was quick work to be ready to leave this morning. Because it would take so little time to get ready to leave, we decided to have some breakfast. Coffee and soft boiled eggs with bread and butter were on our menu.

We were all set and ready to roll by 7:00 AM. From then on, it was nothing more than driving on the interstate. Boring….

We had a detour in Austin, as they were tearing down a bridge on I-35, but it was a short detour and we passed through Waco at 9:00 AM and were in Ft Worth by 11:00AM.

We stopped for lunch at a Golden Corral in Gainesville and ate far too much. We then took Hwy 82 east to I-75 and then drove north, reaching the town of Colbert, OK, shortly after crossing the Red River, which divides Texas from Oklahoma.

Once again we were all set up and relaxing inside the RV by 2:00 PM. We prefer to stop driving early and enjoy having time to relax and enjoy a quiet evening, when we have long distances to travel.

Marilyn hasn’t been feeling well since we left. She took some sinus medicine and it made her drowsy, so I have relied on the music from our CD player to keep me entertained on this trip.

She is going to the doctor when we get to Hannibal. Both of us are tired of her sneezing and clearing her throat all the time, let alone the terrible snoring at night. She has put up with this sinus condition far too long. 

Once again we chose not to disconnect from the truck, even though we aren’t quite level from front to rear. We are only sleeping here and want to be on the road early tomorrow morning.

I must say that the warmest temperature we have seen today was 71 degrees. That will probably be the warmest we see for quite awhile. Bummer!!

Tomorrow, we are driving to Springfield, MO and it should take us about 6 and one half hours. I may be in a terrible mood tomorrow because Hwy 69 is like a washboard all the way to the Oklahoma Turnpike. We’ll be bouncing around all day tomorrow. I will let you know how our air-ride system works. 

We do not have wi-fi here and so I will post this journal entry from the KOA at Springfield, MO. Tomorrow evening.

We have had a safe day of travel and look forward to what tomorrow has in store…..

P.S. We will add pictures later.
