This morning our Silver Sneakers class was different. In recognition of the national emphasis on fall prevention (which always begins on the first day of fall), we had some special activities. There were also free tee shirts and healthy snacks. I passed on the tee shirt but enjoyed the snacks.
First, we had 15 minutes of practicing some of our balancing exercises. Then, Eddie Chavez (who also happens to be my personal trainer) came in to show us some exercises. Last, we saw a video on lifestyle changes to help prevent falls. Some of the tips were: exercise regularly, have vision exams at least every two years, clear clutter at home and wear shoes indoors.
