Today has been a little cooler than yesterday so has been ideal for exploring Port Fairy which is a pretty little town full of boats or all shapes and sizes as well as quite a lot of history and three very large camping grounds and lots of apartments to let. It must be a very busy place in the summer holidays but it has been very quiet for us. Some of the expensive sailing yatches moored on the Moyne estuary looked as if they had not moved for ages but there were dozens of empty trailers with cars attached above the slipway so there must be a lot of people out fishing even if there are not many around town!
There is also a lovely wide sandy beach with small waves for beginner surfers and round the bay there are miles of large expensive looking empty properties to let. It certainly is a tourist town.As well as attracting sailors and surfers , Griffiths Island with its thousands of Shearwater burrows and birds has a lovely easy walk round with plenty of other birds of interest and wallaby for those interested in wildlife and ithe town is also at the end off quite a long cycle trail ( 20 mile or so ) .....so there is something for everyone.
