Today Ginger, Virginia, Inge, Barbara and I went to the Blanton Museum of Art to hear the Bach cantata, “Gott soll allein mein Herze haben, BWV 169”. However, due to the illness of the soloist, they had to make a last-minute change in plans. In its place we heard several instrumental solos, as well as a group performance (two violins, a viola, a cello, a double bass, two oboes and a harpsichord). They all were outstanding. We were not in the least disappointed.

After the concert we took the docent-led tour of the galleries to see the featured work of art, “Saint Cecilia” by Simon Vouet, c. 1626. Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of music and musicians. The docent’s presentation was obviously very well researched.

We visited the Blanton Gift Shop and then had lunch at the Story of Texas Café at the Texas History Museum.
