|Here I am back in Nikko again, about four weeks after last time, I even walk past my old minshuku (B&B) to get to the new place (which is a bit of a zen vegan hippy joint). There are an awful lot of people here to see the trees, and by the time I got here from Tokyo, traffic in the town heading up to the temple area was already slower than me walking. My orignal plan had been to straight away head further up into the mountains, but as this would clearly take for ever, I decided to defer that till tomorrow, and hopefully make an early start before the crowds. So basically I wandered arond all the places in the temple area I could go without paying (i.e. ignoring the ones I had paid to go in last time, I wasn't just being tight), and explored some of the countryside near Nikko. I hefted up to Jakko Falls, up a quiet valley, and had a very lovely and serene time watching the falls, one of those moments that crop up on most trips when I realised I was completely comfortable where I was, even though I was a very long way from home.
