This morning, just as I had finished getting dressed, the service scheduler called to tell me that someone had cancelled their appointment and to ask if I wanted to have their appointment time. Of course, I did.
First, the service tech and I had a big discussion about the modification to my 30-amp cord. He and his supervisor did not want to do it because they considered it dangerous to leave the surge guard inside a bin. Yikes! A tech at Camping World in Burleson is the one who suggested that I have the modification done. Now I was in a quandary. I discussed the conflicting views with the service manager and he agreed that it would be dangerous because of the possibility of fire. He showed me a surge guard that had caught fire inside the bin. Thankfully, the owner of the motorhome discovered it before it could burn down his coach. That convinced me! I cancelled that item on my TO DO list.
Meanwhile, the tech installed the “Stay Awhile” extension on my propane tank. That will be very handy, especially during cold weather when I use more propane. Now I won’t have to unhook and drive the motorhome to the propane dealer. I can just take the external tank in the trunk of my car for a refill.
The third item on my list was to take care of a leak around the toilet. The scheduler originally had told me that it couldn’t be done until 4:00. However, a different tech took care of it around noon. This meant that I’d be able to get to the Lazy Daze owners’ rally at San Marcos much earlier than I had expected. We are staying at Pecan Park Campground on the San Marcos River. It’s pretty here.
We sat outside for a while this evening. A cold front blew in while we were out there and the temperature dropped about 15 degrees in a matter of minutes. I had dinner tonight with Bill and Peggy Crockett, our newest members, at Jason's Deli in San Marcos.
The rally doesn’t start until Thursday but most of the members had arrived early, some of them yesterday. We’ll be going our separate ways on Sunday morning. I’ll head to the Fort Worth area to visit cousins in Haltom City for a day or so.
