Sheila & Terry's New Zealand special holiday travel blog

After 4600km of travelling in the campervan it will seem strange and quite sad to leave it behind. We have certainly enjoyed having the bikes as well as the campervan on our travels. We used the bikes most days, particularly in late afternoons to explore new places when we first arrived.

Although the total distance sounds alot, we have only done three really long road journeys (greater than 200km in a day) and the roads on the long journeys, although not much on motorways, have been mostly very flat and straight where you can travel 110km per hour for long stretches which eats up the distance quickly. Most of the days we have only done about 100km or so or even less with lots of stops for walks etc en route.

We fly out of Christchurch at 3pm back to Auckland for a bit more luxury for a change ..... in a hotel.
