Sunset from Griffiths Island

White bellied sea eagle hunting

Some of the Thousands of shearwater burrows on the island. There is...

The lightthouse at the tip of Griffiths Island glowing in the evening...

Yesterday we awoke to a change in wind direction to the warm north wind and clear blue skies for a change so the temperature was 30 C + for travelling which should be no problem in an air conditioned car. Our only problem was that we broke down in a very remote place. After a picnic lunch by a river estuary the car would not start. Fortunately there was a very helpful Aussie who had a friend with jump leads that got the car started so we made it to Port Fairy without stopping the engine again! When the breakdown man came out and tested the battery ithe instrument said " bad" " replace" so we now have a new battery and things should be OK.. We were VERY lucky as we have been parked in a lot of very remote places the past few weeks.

Things then looked up at the camp site as there is quite a large indoor heated swimming pool on site which is nice and we had an interesting evening watching a fabulous sunset over Griffiths Island before we watched a white bellied sea eagle hunting for prey and hundreds of shearwaters return to their burrows and chicks from their daily fishing spree .
