Lagoon Shore

I thought 'WWW' stood for World Wide Web but now I know that here in Portugal it stands for Wild, Wet & Windy because that's how it was all day today. It was raining & windy when we got up so we decided to push on up the coast & drive whilst it was raining. I certainly didn't fancy traipsing round Lisbon again in the wind & rain.

Well it rained all morning & it was so wild & windy at the first likely camp site we just kept going. It did eventually stop raining for a while at midday but it was still windy. We stopped at a quiet forest site near the coast at a place called Foz Do Arelho.

However the wind was still blowing a gale & the trees around us were really swaying about. The rain started again so most of the afternoon we stayed in the motorhome. It did clear up a bit later in the afternoon & I did venture out to walk the mile or so down to the shores of the nearby lagoon. Viv had more sense & stayed back in the warm.

It really was wild & windy & I did get a bit wet when it rained again. Down on the shore it was really blowing a gale & it was hard walking into the wind. Certainly not a day to be at sea. It was dark by the time I found my way back to the camp site so we hunkered down for an evening of TV as the motorhome shook & rocked. I had visions of one of the nearby trees crashing down us as some of the gusts were pretty fierce.

Mileage to date - 2847
