As forecast this rather short ride day was a bit of a challenge. Since we knew this we decide or rather I decided I needed an early second breakfast. So at the 5 k mark after leaving camp we stopped at a little Greek café and I had two of the largest pancakes I have ever seen. Then it was on to the hills!
The day had a weather forecast for light head winds and light rain to add to the challenge. We did get the head winds but only a sprinkle of rain which came after we got to camp. It was still a very chilly day and hard to dress for as going up the hills the sweat was on and coming down the chill was on. Just can’t win on a day like today.
There were multiple hills that were long and the grade was 6 & 7%. One in particular sapped the energy as it was 7 kilometer long! Fortunately it was not all steep grades but it did tax the legs all the way to the top. We did make a stop at a little restaurant at Gravel River but we were about the 25 bikes in and the service was overwhelmed so we just grabbed a quick coffee and headed down the road.. This meant more hills on the way to a lunch at Rossport at a little restaurant that was said to have super food and it lived up to its reputation for sure. We did the specials and a desert to die for. Again it was all needed as the ride continued to present its challenges and I am sure we burnt off the super load of calories we took on today.
Not a bad camp as it had good showers with hot water and lots of it to take the chill out of the poor old body.
Dinner was mac and cheese and so we again were glad for the great lunch we had.
