It was a quick 81 miles from Shelburne to Lunenburg today. We had good roads except for the last 15 miles when we got off the big highway and got on coastal 3 again. We are staying at the Lunenburg Board of Trade Campground which is run by the Visitor's Center in Lunenburg. It is a normal RV Park for up here but we do have full hookups (with sewer on the opposite side of the coach as electric and water for some reason), decent cell coverage and a straight shot to the satellite.
After setting up we made a trip into downtown and explored the wharf area and main street. This is a very old town and has a lot of historical places which, frankly we are getting a little tired of perusing, and has almost become a tourist mecca. The whole downtown section was very crowded with cars and people.
We then drove up the coast about 10 miles to take in Mahone Bay. This is a quaint village that has also become a tourist haven and it was almost as crowded as Lunenburg. We were a little disappointed because we had gone there to see three items and two were no longer there!!! The three churches were just as we expected but the displays for the Tin Men and the Ocean Monsters had been removed. But the scenery on the bay was phenomenal and we enjoyed the drive very much.
We will be leaving here tomorrow for Glen Margaret which is a little ways up the coast from Peggy's Cove and also about a 30 minute drive into Halifax, the capitol of Nova Scotia. We plan on staying there for four days.
