This morning I was on the road by a quarter to ten and arrived at the Fort Worth Midtown RV Park around 3:00. I’ll be spending the next two nights here. I called Cousin Dee of Haltom City and then handed my phone to the park host to give Dee driving directions from her house to the RV park. The RV park is very near the Cultural District and the Will Rogers Coliseum and is only about 1.5 miles from downtown.
It took me longer to get here than I had anticipated because of some construction on I-35 north of Georgetown. At first I thought that there had been a wreck, so I pulled onto the shoulder to wait for the traffic to clear. It was a little early for lunch but I was feeling hungry so I went ahead and ate. Then when I drove a ways I discovered the real reason for the delay. Three lanes of traffic were being merged into one lane.
Dee came to get me and, after the grand tour of my castle on wheels, we went to Cheddar’s for dinner. It was a belated birthday dinner for her because we had had to change our plans earlier in the month. The waiter brought her an ice cream sundae as a birthday surprise. She shared it with me.
