Bob & Elsie's Adventures travel blog

Today we left our winter home RV park, Anchors Aweigh RV Resort in Foley, AL and started our trip north toward South Dakota. So that we could see that everything was working right we decided to make our maiden voyage with our new motor-home a short one and our first destination was Hattiesburg, Mississippi just 140 miles from Foley, AL. The campground we picked in Hattiesburg is the Shady Cove RV Park. It is conveniently located right along highway 49. The park is kind of rustic compared to Anchors Aweigh but it will serve the purpose for our 4 day stay. The internet is a little iffy and there are only a couple digital stations on the TV but I guess it could be worse. After getting set up in the park we took our usual drive to check out the area. On the drive into downtown Hattiesburg we passed the campus of The University of Southern Mississippi, it is quite impressive. Hattiesburg is a lot like most downtown areas we have come across, not many businesses but still trying to keep going. There are a lot of historic buildings and many have been made into art galleries. Of course, I left my camera in the motor-home so we will have to make another trip downtown tomorrow or the next day so I can get a few pictures. Mississippi is very pretty this time of year, lots of green grass and flowering bushes everywhere. Today was pretty warm, around 83 with high humidity but thankfully there was a breeze every once in a while.
