|Sun, 28 Jul: Following eighteen days in Forest City it is time to get a move on. We spent two post-rally days on the rally grounds with picture perfect weather. After last week's heat it was downright chilly with highs in the upper sixties and furnace weather overnite. We loved it!
Anyway, after going thru our checklists we moved the coach to a water hydrant to add some fresh water to our almost empty tank. Then to the dump facility for a thorough dump and rinse of the three holding tanks. We had the "honey wagon" dump us once during the rally, but they do a very quick and dirty (pardon the pun) job so a thorough rinse was in order.
All that behind us we finally rolled wheels about 0845. We headed east on IA 9 to I 35 and then south to just south of Mason City where we picked up US 18/IA 27 south and east. This road is known as the "Avenue of the Saints" because it connects Saint Paul Minnesota with Saint Louis Missouri. It is an excellent shortcut for anyone traveling between eastern and north central Iowa and bypasses Des Moines.
We made good time with very lite traffic until we got near Cedar Rapids. We broke for lunch at a closed truck scale. Once on I 80 the traffic picked up with end-of-weekend travel. We exited the Interstate at Moscow and found our destination to be firmly gated and chained. After a twelve mile detour to find a place large enough to turn around, we finally found the boondocking area. It was across the highway from HWH, and not very obvious.
We are at HWH Corporation for some service work. HWH manufacturers the hydraulic systems that power our slideouts and leveling jacks. We aren't having any "real" problems with either system, but there are some annoying "quirks" we'd like them to address. Hopefully they'll be able to identify and rectify the "quirks" and have us on our way.
