This year the ACL (Austin City Limits) festival was held on two week ends for the first time. Last week end I was out of town and so I didn’t have to deal with the noise and traffic. I was expecting major slowdowns today, particularly on the way home from church. However, it wasn’t like that. I had my resident pass with me but didn’t have to use it because there weren’t any policemen in sight. In fact, I saw very few people on the street. I learned on the news tonight that today's events were canceled because Zilker Park was flooded.
The temperature today is much nicer because it rained all night last night. There was a lot of thunder. My NOAA radio woke me up several times announcing flash flood warnings for Travis, Williamson and Hays Counties. Some of the people at church told me that they had received 13 inches of rain! The forecast for the next several days includes chances of more rain. I hope they are right; our reservoirs are very low right now.
