Our new friend Mary, from Idaho, was gracious enough to take us on two excursions to check out the desert. We found some petroglyphs (pictures on rocks) and an intaglio (picture pounded onto the ground over a large area). We saw the Bouse Fisherman intaglio, but it was hard to photograph. Here is a link to the
Bouse Fisherman.
We also drove to the base of the Harquahala Mountains and checked out a wash and looked for cool rocks. It was incredibly hot and we had to keep drinking water so as not to get dehydrated.
We saw saguaro cactus, ocatillo, creasote brush, and lots of prickly pear cactus.
Thanks Mary for our fun in the desert!
