This morning I was up early so I could get on the road at a reasonable time. I had another long drive. Even though I stopped frequently for little breaks, I was very tired by the time I had arrived at Manitou Springs. Unfortunately, my back is bothering me again and the pain is going down into my leg. I guess I will have to take the strong drugs after all, which really goes against my grain! Grrrr!
After my arrival, I called Gray Line to make reservations for three of their tours: Tour 10 – Garden of the Gods and The Air Force Academy, Tour 30 – Royal Gorge Bridge and Park and Tour 60 – Pike’s Peak Cog Railway. They will pick me up at the RV park – a distinct plus. Since Cousin LaValda Heiple has to work most of the time while I’m here, I planned my tours around her work schedule.
Then I called LaValda, who lives in Colorado Springs. She works in accounting at Young Life International. After work she and her husband, Ben, and their dog came by with the intention of staying just a few minutes. They just wanted to find out exactly where I am parked.
Unfortunately, when they started to leave, their car would not start. Ben thought that it had run out of gasoline. The RV park owner had a can of gasoline which he sold to Ben. However, that wasn’t the problem. The car still would not run. Finally Ben called for a wrecker to take the car to his mechanic. Ben asked the driver if he could take them home. He could have taken them home but said that he is not allowed to transport animals! That meant that I had to take them and their dog home. By the time I got back to the RV park it was 9:15 and I was more than tired. I was feeling shaky and a bit dizzy, so I decided that I had better eat something.
