Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We were in no hurry this morning because we had only 185 miles to travel from Fort Griffin, Texas to Elk City, Oklahoma. Marilyn decided to drive and follow me so we charged the hand-held radios and used them to communicate.

It was 10:20 when we pulled away from our campsite (#2). It was a beautiful day and the road was good. However, shortly after leaving the campground we encountered a Detour of about 15 miles. We knew about this detour as it was the same one we encountered last year. (Makes you wonder about progress doesn’t it?)

We topped off the fuel tanks in the little Texas town of Throckmorten and were confident that we had plenty of fuel to reach our destination. We stopped for construction several times and followed yet another Detour, this time about 10 miles. In any case we arrived at Rolling Retreats at 2:15 and were soon parked and set up for the evening.

Marilyn & I drove a short distance to have a late lunch/early dinner at a Chinese Restaurant nearby. The food was fine and all we needed for the day.

Tomorrow we plan to dump the holding tanks at 7:30 and be ready to pull into the shop at 8:00.

Today was a good travel day with sunshine and a light breeze. I can tell you one thing for sure. It will be awesome to get a shower and clean clothing tomorrow night.

Life is Good!
