Last one!

We toured the beautiful campus of the University of Notre Dame today in South Bend, Indiana. We had hoped to see the stadium, but they do not allow stadium tours. I did manage to get pictures of the stadium as well as a pretty good zoomed picture of “Touchdown Jesus”, a nickname given to the large mural entitled The Word of Life by Millard Sheets of the resurrected Jesus. Installed in 1964 on the Hesburgh Library, the mosaic wall looms over the stadium.

The mural's nickname is derived from Jesus' upraised arms, which are similar in appearance to the raised arms of a referee signifying a touchdown. The Word of Life mural was a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Howard V. Phalin of Winnetka, Illinois.

The University of Notre Dame is a famed Catholic research university established in 1842 by Father Edward Sorin. Consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful campuses with its architecture, landscaping and lakes. The University is currently organized into five colleges: the College of Arts and Letters, the College of Science, the College of Engineering, the School of Architecture and the Mendoza College of Business. Each of the schools has consistently ranked among the top schools in the country.

In 2013, the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business ranked No. 1 for the fourth year in a row in Bloomberg BusinessWeek's annual survey of "The Best Undergraduate Business Schools". In 2009, Notre Dame ranked number 18 overall among all national universities and first among Catholic universities.

We enjoyed our tour very much, check back later for more from Indiana.
