Yet another market to browse through, Quito, Equador

After some very relaxing days in Cusco on the back of a hectic schedule and reflecting on the recent experiences in vehicles of all descriptions we both agreed that flying from Cusco to Quito was a very good idea.

Apart from getting there in 7 as opposed to 45 hours it would give us a chance to check out Quito and hopefully even get to the Galapagos Is. a few days before our boat was due to leave.

It was actually just as well we did because when we tried to withdraw the money we required to pay for the rest of our Galapagos tour we realised Westpac (bless them) had frozen our accounts and cancelled our credit card. I think at this stage we had a total of $100 USD on us, and while that was plenty to get buy it wasn't the $1,200 we needed.

Anyway after some interesting discussions with Westpac staff we managed to access money again through our accounts but the credit card was cancelled and that was that!

Apparently our number came up on a list of those exposed to fraud, and without contacting us they just cancelled it. We appreciate them looking out for us but....

Quito turned on some beautiful weather and made a stroll around the markets ideal. Lots of travellers using the place as a base for other activities so it was also good to sit down over a beer and compare notes. Lots to do in Ecuador but for us it is all going to be about the Galapagos.
