The trip from North Pole to Border City wasn’t too bad until the last 30 miles or so. That’s pretty good – only 30 miles out of 270 miles total. We did get to see moose cows twice and a mama and calf between Delta Crossing and Tok, AK but still no bull moose – Doris is hard to please. Any moose would have satisfied her two months ago but now it MUST be a BULL moose!! We arrived about 2:00 p.m. and are staying at Border City Motel and RV Park about a mile inside the U.S. border. It is a combination lodge, RV park, café, gift shop and gas station. We don’t plan on doing much but sitting in/around the Mothership and relaxing. We have a long, but narrow, pull-through with water and 20 amp electricity – not enough to run the A/C and it is warm today. We will probably survive but we’re sure not used to the heat!! Tonight will be our last night camping in Alaska and we are sad to be leaving though we will drive Libby down to Skagway one day while we are close to Whitehorse.

Tomorrow we will cross the border and revisit one of our favorite Canadian campgrounds – Congdon Campground on Lake Kluane. We are not looking forward to retracing our route to Destruction Bay as that has been the worst route we encountered on the entire trip. Hopefully it will be a little better seven weeks later.
