Mary and Sadie and the girls

At home in the desert

Sunrise in Salome AZ

Aisha the intrepid jewelry creator

We arrived to a Camp Club USA campground in the middle of nowhere... I mean Salome Arizona. My intention was for us to stay for a short while and then head up to the Grand Canyon. After checking out the weather in Flagstaff, it became readily apparent that although it was 80 degrees and absolutely gorgeous in Salome, it was not the same at the Grand Canyon. I made the decision for us to stay for a month at this out of the way campground in the middle of nowhere, enjoy the peace and quiet, learn about the desert, and just hang out. The girls enjoyed a routine of homeschooling in the morning and playing in the afternoon. They were even spoiled by the fact that we could get cable TV!!!

So Three Dreamers RV Park became our new home for the month of March. We quickly made friends with folks in the campground who were from places like Oregon, Colorado, and Washington state. We would chat and hang out and we even figured out how to hook up Aisha's portable DVD player to the clubhouse ginormous TV and show "chick flicks" and eat popcorn.

One of our new best friends, Sadie, also loves to make jewelry as the girls and I do. We love beading and have been making rainbow bracelets for folks who have helped us along in our travels as thank you gifts. I love using glass beads, but Sadie's taste is a little fancier in that she loves Swarovski crystals. Nevertheless, we pooled our resources and shared our tools and beads and thing-a-ma-jigs (a gadget for bending wire to make jewelry) and we created the Jewelry Table in the clubhouse. All throughout the weeks that we were there, whenver anyone was bored, we would go up to the clubhouse and create jewelry. Sometimes another new friend of ours, Judy, would join us. Judy was great because she wasn't afraid to create. She would just barrel ahead and make the most beautiful things.

During our weeks here, I offered a Worship Circle for those who were interested. We had several women join us for both worship circles and it was a great time for all of us. It was a great opportuntiy for the girls and I to create community and worship with others even though we were miles and miles away from a UU church.
