Lake Estes Trail - Pedestrian Underpass

Stanley Hotel Historic Site

Today Barb and I got a late start but we still had plenty of time for exploring. We spent several hours in Rocky Mountain National Park. Unfortunately, it was overcast all day so we didn't have any pretty blue skies for our photographs.

Late in the afternoon we returned to Estes Park to see some of its sights. We drove through the main part of town where all the shops are but didn't stop. Then we went to the Visitors Center to pick up some brochures and to walk part of the Lake Estes Trail. It goes from the Visitors Center to the shops downtown. A pedestrian underpass goes under the highway.

After this we drove to the Stanley Hotel Historic Site. We just walked around outside instead of taking the tour of the interior. It certainly is an imposing hotel. It is 100 years old this year.

The last stop of the day was at the Shell station to have Sweet Pea washed. She was covered with cottonwood tree sap and cotton from the trees in Pikes Peak RV Park in Manitou Springs. She looked like she was growing white hair. :>) While I was there I filled the fuel tank so I would be ready for more sightseeing tomorrow. ($2.769 per gallon)
