|We were up before daylight this morning. As soon as the daylight became sufficient to see, we were outdoors getting ready to go. We kept an eye on our friends Mike & Marian who were also preparing to leave. We thought we were ready except for connecting the car to the RV, when Mike & Marian announced that they were ready to go. We walked down to exchange hugs with these good friends and to wish safe travels for one another. As we watched our friends pull away from their Site, the thought that we are the last of our group to leave went through my mind.
Just as I backed the truck to hook up to the RV, David who owns Mountaindale Resort came up to say so long and to wish us safe travels. We ended up talking for nearly half an hour. Then I discovered that the air bag on the hitch needed more air so I carried the air compressor to the truck and used an extension cord to reach the power source and soon had the air bag properly inflated.
The next chore was to connect the car to the RV and we were ready to go right at 8:30 as originally planned. We stopped at Limon, Colorado for fuel and then continued east on I-70 to High Plains Campground at Oakley, Kansas. 4 hrs and 40 minutes.
After getting things set up we walked to the Colonial Steakhouse for a fine “Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner” meal of delicious roast beef with mashed potatoes, gravy, as well as a very nice soup and salad bar.
Now we are relaxing in the comfort of our RV with TV and a good book. We look forward to a good night of sleep and easy travel to Topeka. Life is Good!
