Big Texan steer poses with Bob & Dinky

Wed, 12 Sep: Another (excellent) road day...

We had a very good day's run. It was overcast when we awoke, but cleared up mid-morning and we had a glorious day's drive. It got a tad windy as we approached Amarillo, but that's "normal" we think.

Sandi pulled out of West Texas Friendly RV at 0930 and retraced the route to US 87 north. Sandi's leg took us to the Pilot/Flying J in Lubbock where we topped up our diesel tank. Bob took the helm from there, heading north on I 27. We stopped for lunch at a brand-new rest stop.

Continuing north on I 27 we approached Amarillo. Exiting onto Bell Road, a busy north/south arterial we pulled into the Amarillo Elks Lodge around 1440. We got set up in a 50amp site.

Today's run was 240 miles with fuel economy of 8⅛ mpg.

We drove to the Big Texan Steakhouse for dinner. We love this place because it is, just, so Texan! We both had the chicken fried steak and brought most of it home for a future meal. Yum!!!
