This morning Nancy and I headed out with our cameras for a few hours of tramping around in area parks. We went first to a very small Travis County park in northwest Austin, Allen Park. We had thought we would have fantastic views of downtown Austin from there but, alas, we couldn’t see downtown at all! Nevertheless, it is a nice little park.
We had lunch at a nice restaurant, Nanking Chinese. It seemed to be a popular one. The food and service were good.
After lunch we went to Covert Park on top of Mount Bonnell, the highest elevation in Austin. We climbed to the top via the stone steps. At the top, the wind was quite strong but we enjoyed our hike anyway. We were able to get some good photos from there and then we went back down the hill via a different trail.
To reward ourselves for all this activity, we stopped at Panera Bread for rolls and coffee. :>)
