Nutcracker

Dianne, Lucille, Inge, Ginger, Virginia and Glenda with Nutcracker

Stained Glass Window

This morning Inge, Ginger, Virginia, Lucille, Dianne and I went to Christmas at the Caswell House. The entire house was filled with Christmas decorations, gifts, clothing, foods and other goodies for sale. There were also luncheons at three times with live music. We could have eaten at 1:30 but some of our group could not wait that late due to other commitments. This is an annual fund-raiser for the Austin Junior Forum, a non-profit volunteer organization supporting women, children and the elderly in the Austin area.

The Daniel H. Caswell House, built c. 1900, can be rented for weddings, receptions, business meetings, luncheons, fundraisers and other events.  It is owned and operated by the Austin Junior Forum. All proceeds from the rental of the house go back into the community through grants and community service projects. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Texas Historic Landmark. The Austin Junior Forum bought it in 1979 from the City of Austin.

After our visit to the Caswell House, we went to the Magnolia Cafe on South Congress for lunch and enjoyed a good meal.

Tonight I met Virginia and Bob at South Austin Church for a special service featuring Susie Shellenberger. She is an entertaining speaker who "tells it like it is" in a very effective way.
