I came back to the Habitat build location I volunteered for last November! It was on my way, the Care-A-Vanner build coincided with my timing, I like the people who work there, and I made a vow to myself that I would volunteer at least two weeks every year that I am traveling. My time here is 4/19 – 5/3.

Not wanting to drive far on this day, I went down the country roads by the church to find the couple of parks that are said to be here. I found them, and liked the Haw Creek Preserve State Park located at the end of a dirt road - seems it wouldn't be visited by many tourists. There is a mile-long boardwalk through the woods next to the creek that leads to a big, open field with nothing on it! I would like to come here and kayak at the end of the work day at least once. For today, the boardwalk is just fine, since it's late afternoon and I'm not up for the work it takes to get ready to kayak. (Turns out I should have taken the opportunity because I never did get back here again during this stay.)
