Chena River Recreational Campground

Pioneer Park

Pioneer Park

Today we drove the 2 blocks from the Fred Meyers parking lot to the Chena River Recreation Area Campground. This is a state park campground with a few sites with water and electric and the rest dry. We had found a coupon for $3 off per night. We will stay here for 5 days at $14 a night, not bad. Since we are self contained we can use the sites without service. Oh, we also have free WiFi here but not at the trailer.

After setting up camp we cycled over Pioneer Park to look around. The park is made up of old building from around Fairbanks that have been moved here and set up as various shops. There were lots of family picnics going on. Some very nice local crafts in the shops and most were not as expensive as other places we have been.

It was a relaxing warm day. We did have a good rain during the evening. It rained for at least a couple of hours. It was nice to here the rain on the roof. It made going to sleep very easy.
