Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

The plan was to leave Choke Canyon at 8:00 this morning and it was exactly 8:00 AM when we pulled out of that Campground for the 190 mile drive to our winter home in Mission, Texas.

The route was familiar to us so the time passed pretty quickly and it was just about 11:15 when we pulled in at Retama Village Resort. I parked beside the Clubhouse to disconnect the car and drove around to our Site. Mike & Marian were there to greet us so I stopped in the middle of the street to give these good friends a big hug. Other friends dropped by to say Welcome Home and exchange hugs. Richard & Jane, Mimi, and Linda, all stopped by or spoke to us through the fence. I know we’ll be sharing some good times with these good friends.

Shortly after the hugs were exchanged I had the RV backed in at our Site and hooked up to electric and water. The sewer connection can wait until tomorrow.

Marilyn has the place looking great already and it sure feels nice to be “home”.

We have a lot of work to do before we call ourselves settled but for now it is time for showers and clean clothing. Next on our agenda will be something simple for dinner and a great night of sleep.

Tomorrow morning we’ll be headed to Mass to say Thanks for the safe trip and for good health. Perhaps we’ll have to make a visit to Diaz Diner for huevos rancheros. Oh my! Life is Good!
