Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We were anxious to get started this morning and left Lake Waco behind at 8:00 AM. I followed Bob but he made it through several red lights that we had to wait until they changed to green. By the time we reached I-35 south, Bob was nowhere to be seen. Marilyn and Janet stayed in touch by texting and we were sure Bob must be miles ahead of us by that time. He remained out of sight as we tried to catch up.

After some time we asked what exit he was going by and he texted back that it was one we had already passed. We don’t know how it happened but we were ahead of Bob the whole time. Once he had us in sight we allowed him to pass us and then we followed him the rest of the way to Choke Canyon, just 11 miles west of Three Rivers, Texas.

We set up in 91 degree temperatures with no breeze to help us stay comfortable. That is the first time I’ve had sweat dripping off my face is quite some time.

Once we were all set up, after five hours and 15 minutes of driving, we took the trucks back to town to have a late lunch and then to fuel the trucks in preparation for tomorrow. Our meal was at the Staghorn Restaurant where the food has been outstanding every time we have enjoyed a meal there. Everyone agreed that their food was really good.

We were back at the Campground a bit after 4:00 PM and it was time to kick off the shoes and relax. There is no TV, no Cell Service, and no Phone service here so relaxing with a good book became the order of the day.

Marilyn & I ate some ice cream for a snack because I had to make room in the freezer for Blue Bell Ice Cream now that we back home in Texas.

Life is Good!
