Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Marilyn & I slept late and woke at 7:10 AM. Since we agreed to meet our friends at 8:00 for breakfast and wanted to have everything ready to go before that, we went into scramble mode. Fortunately it doesn’t take long to be ready to go once we are already in travel mode and we were ready just in the nick of time.

We all rode the shuttle to the Casino for the free breakfast which was just ok, and then rode the shuttle back to the RV Park. We pulled out a few minutes later with Bob & Janet leading the way and Denny & Jackie bringing up the rear while Marilyn & I were in our usual spot called the “rocking chair”.

Traffic was heavy on I-35 and construction was a nightmare on I-35W through Ft Worth. Because of the construction and delays I'm sure that Bob, in a previous life, led the Donner Party across the mountains in Nevada. LOL

We waved so long to Denny & Jackie when we pulled off I-35 in Waco, as they continued on to San Marcos.

As we were setting up in our sites, Eddie arrived and big hugs were exchanged. Jan was shopping for supplies for dinner because these good friends had invited us for dinner at their home. Bob & Janet, Eddie, Marilyn & I all sat outdoors together beside the lake, sipping cold drinks and talking as we listened to the waves lapping the shore.

Not long after Eddie left, Marilyn & I rode with Bob & Janet over to Eddie & Jan’s beautiful home. We sipped cold drinks and snacked on appetizers as we sat outdoors visiting. Once Eddie put steaks on the grill things became more serious and dinner was a delight. Salad with freshly baked bread, followed by scalloped potatoes and those delicious steaks allowed for a lot less conversation while we all enjoyed the delicious food. Jan even had a dessert of freshly baked cupcakes but we elected to take them home and have them for breakfast.

It was a wonderful evening after a tiring travel day, but now all is well.

Life is Good!
