Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We left Carthage, Missouri with all of us in high spirits this morning. Bob & Janet led the way with Denny & Jackie acting as tail gunners while Marilyn & I drove along in the rocking chair position.

The highway was smooth and traffic was light until we left the turnpike and started south on Hwy 69. The net four hours were spent bouncing over the washboard surface Oklahoma calls a highway. We stopped for fuel at a Love’s truck stop near Eufaula, Oklahoma and crossed into Texas a bit after 1:00 PM.

I played some country music including the song “People are crazy” which reminds us of friends from Topeka, Kansas who joined us in singing that song over in Mexico one fun day.

It was about 2:30 when we crossed back into Texas to spend the night at the Winstar Casino at Thackerville. My camping fee was free when I signed up for a player’s card. They also gave me some money to play with but I promptly lost that. That’s no problem because breakfast is free tomorrow also. Because of that we have agreed to have breakfast together before we leave for the drive to Waco.

Denny & Jackie will leave us when we stop in Waco, where we’ll spend two nights and have some time with friends, Eddie & Jan.

The weather is supposed to be great and we’re feeling good to be getting closer and closer to our winter home.

Life is Good!
