|Well we've made it to Portugal at last & are now back in the same time zone as the UK. it seems strange crossing borders into different countries without having to go through passport controls.
We haven't been near any mountains now for a week or so but we did go up & down a bit once we got into Portugal, nothing you could really call a mountain though. The main roads are similar to Spain but some of the minor roads were pretty poor.
We stopped at one town called Quarteira which has a large Aire for motorhomes but this is closed on a Wednesday for the local market. All the motorhomes have to move next door onto a large car park & wait till 5pm before they can go back. There seemed to be a hundred or more parked up waiting. We parked up down the road a bit & walked back to go round the market. It was certainly big & we spent an hour or so wandering around the stalls & buying a few things to take home. There were a few hot food stalls in the middle & although not quite a bocadillo lomo we did have a nice pork sandwich each with a cup of coffee. Lots of English people about.
We then pushed on to an Aire in Albufeira which also had about a hundred motorhomes parked up but fortunately there was room for us. It is situated beside a sports stadium & had nice toilet & shower facilities. We parked up in front of a Scottish couple who have been here since November. Still can't see what they do all the time stuck in one place like that for so long.
We went off after lunch for our usual cache hunting walk but didn't see too much of the town as it is a big place & the site is up on a hill above the town. We didn't even find our way down to the beaches. Had a lazy late afternoon catching up with a few things.
