We only drove 62 miles today but the trip took us almost 12 hours. We were in line for the ferry at a little after 9:00 a.m. but it didn't leave until after noon and we arrived at Port aux Basques, NL about 6:00 p.m. It then took over an hour before we were able to leave the truck deck as they were having problems of some kind with the ramp. At any rate we did arrive here in Doyles a little before 8:00 p.m. and it was almost 8:30 before we were checked in and set up. We are now experiencing Newfoundland Time which is 1:30 ahead of eastern Time. We have full hookups but are only using the electricity, no cell service and weak WiFi but the park itself is really nice. It was once a Provincial Park but the state released it and the current owners have really done a great job of keeping it going. Since it was once a Provincial Park, the sites are very large and the setting between the Tabletop Mountains and the River make it a beautiful place to stop. We will try to stay longer than a day when we come back through on our way to the ferry departure. Tomorrow we start working our way all the way to just below St. Johns on the East coast as rapidly as possible. The caravans are all on the West coast right now so we will avoid them by going to the other coast and then start back slowly. Tomorrow we will either be stopping in Deer Lake or Grand Falls-Windsor depending on how the drive goes.
